AUDITIONS
Does my child have to audition? Yes. Also, every child receives speaking lines as well as participation in at least one big dance number.! This gives every performer an opportunity to shine!
How do auditions work? Auditions take place in each class for the first two weeks for “main stage” shows and the first week only for “workshops.” The performers attend the selected class day and time that they are enrolled in and audition for parts by singing a song & reading lines from the show in which they are performing.
Audition Song? We ask that the students prepare 16 bars (approximately 30 seconds) of a song from the show or another musical. Our younger performers (age 7 and under) are allowed to sing whatever song they know!
Acting/Sides? Performers (ages 7+) read from small pieces of the script called “sides.” The directors take notes as well as ask which parts they would like to audition for. This does not guarantee that they will be cast as those parts however, our directors will try their hardest to find a part that fits your performer best.
When will my performer know their part? Parts are given out on week 3! (Week 2 at workshops) This is also when parents and performers will be given access to all music to rehearse with online.
